Spring is here and summer is coming and Culver City High School is still competing at a high level. At the beginning of the spring CIF playoffs the Centaurs qualified eight teams. Now with a few weeks left in the high school playoff season Culver City has two teams remaining, Baseball and girls track and field.
The eight teams that made the CIF playoffs were baseball, softball, tennis, boys’ and girls’ track and field, boys’ and girls’ lacrosse and boys’ volleyball. The boys’ volleyball team won the CIF Division 6 Championship, and the baseball team played Long Beach Wilson in the semifinals last Tuesday at Culver City. The girls’ track team is going to the prestigious California State Meet on Friday and Saturday May 29-30. That meet will be held at Buchanan High School in Fresno.
In that meet representing Culver City High School will be Aliza Rush in the 100 meters. She took fifth place at the Masters Meet last Saturday with a time of 11.53. That was her fastest time of the year. Also, on the track will be the girls 4X100 relay team of Nadahri Goodwin, Giannia Jones, Paris Jackson and Rush. They placed fifth at the Masters Meet with a time of 46.57.
If the baseball team beats Long Beach Wilson High School, they will advance to the CIF finals on Friday. Please call Culver City High school for the time and location of that game.
To reach the semifinals the Centaurs won three playoff games. They are 15-15-1 and they have won seven out of their last nine games. In their first playoff game they beat Valley Christian in 8 innings 8-6. Then the beat St Bonaventure 6-2 and last Friday the beat St Bernard 11-6.
