At the City Council meeting which took place on the evening of Tuesday, October 13 (a day later than usual due to Columbus/Indigenous Peoples’ Day on the preceding Monday), there were two items on the agenda which both passed without incident.
Public Hearing Item PH1 called for, “Introduction of an Ordinance Confirming the Downtown Culver City Business Improvement District 2027 Annual Work Plan and Levy of Assessments.”
With Council Member Dan O’Brien recusing himself out of an abundance of caution due to his work with the Chamber of Commerce, and with no protests from the public, that item passed 4-0.
Highlights of the plan include, “Coordinate with the City to enhance the décor and exterior lighting throughout Downtown Culver City to beautify the neighborhood and enhance customer experience,” and, “Participate in regular walk-throughs of downtown with Economic Development, Public Works, PRCS, ABM Parking, and Chrysalis to identify maintenance issues, and determine responsibility and solutions. Remain in close contact to ensure issues are addressed in a timely fashion.”

Action Item 1 (A1) called for the council to, “Approve a Community Workforce Agreement with the Los Angeles and Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council with Coverage Thresholds of $750,000 for Multi-trade Contracts and $150,000 for Prime Specialty Contracts.” That too passed unanimously.
