The 2-1 boys’ soccer team will hit the road today and travel to Encino to battle the Crespi Celts. Game time was not available at press time so please call Culver City High School to get the correct starting time.

Crespi is 0-3-1 while the Centaurs won their last game against Artesia 1-0. Culver City’s next game will be against Santa Barbara on Friday, Dec. 19 in the South Torrance Tournament.

This year the Centaurs hope to put it all together with a team that appears to have very few weaknesses.

“We have a new group of players this year,” said senior goalkeeper and captain, Nico Melendez. “I think we are going to have a really good season.”

Another player that likes this year’s team is Maarten Hesseling.

“We work really well together,” Hesseling said. “We are very close group and we have a lot of fun in practice but when the game starts we get serious.”

Coach Louie Espeleta likes what he sees in his players so far.

“The kids are really starting to get to know each other,” Espeleta said. “As the season goes on hopefully we can do really well and make it to the playoffs.”

The Boys basketball team is currently 3-3 and they travel to the Corona Del Mar Tournament this weekend. Their next home game is Friday Dec. 19, against St. Bernard at 7 p.m.
