Also making history was the 8-0 Culver City boys’ volleyball team when it defeated Inglewood High School on Tuesday to win its first league championship in 15 years. In youth sports the Culver City AYSO soccer program was part of a world record setting event last Saturday at Blanco Park in Culver City.  As part of AYSO’s 50th year anniversary celebration, several thousand Los Angeles area AYSO players participated in the AYSO Soccer Fest 14, which was a one day pick-up style soccer game. The Regional Commissioner for region 19 is Laura Love and the regional director of officials is Barry Moser.

In pro sports the Clippers beat two opponents to advance to the second round of the NBA Western Conference playoffs: the Golden State Warriors on the court and owner Donald Sterling off the court. The pressure that the Clippers faced and the decisions that had to make as a team and organization was something no other professional team has had to deal with. If their second round 122-105 victory over Oklahoma City on last Monday is any indication, the Clippers may be ready to take that next step and become a great team.
