The Culver City Sister City Committee invites all interested residents to attend a potluck “meet and greet” on Sunday, March 24, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the home of Mike and Denise Cohen, 4378 Jasmine Ave., Culver City.

The event is honoring the visitors from the Sister City of Kaizuka, Japan, Miwa Miyashita and Ikuya Fujiwara, who will be running in the L.A. Marathon, that morning, as well as local runners, Erin Okawa and Ricardo Galiano. The latter two ran in the February Senshu Marathon in Japan, where both achieved personal bests.

Sunday’s dinner hosts will provide homemade pupusas, which are handmade Salvadorian tortillas stuffed with a savory filling and served with Spanish rice.  Dessert and beverages will also be provided.

Guests are asked to bring a main course, salad, fruit or side dish (no desserts, please) and RSVP to Alice Impliazzo at alice5651@gmail.com or 310-642-7604.

Another opportunity to meet the runners will take place on Tuesday, March 26, between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. at Menchie’s Yogurt, 5622 Sawtelle Blvd., Culver City.  A portion of all purchases will be donated to the Sister City Committee.
