Tough guy played linebacker

Former Culver City High School middle linebacker Kerry Kendall died last week. He was 60.

A two year starter in 1968 and 1969, Kendall also competed at the halfback position with Tom Mills, who still resides in Culver City.

“Kerry was a tough guy and gave his all to the football team,” said former passing record holder Greg Goodyear, who played alongside Kendall and now coaches the Centaur varsity football team.

Kendall was the half-brother of All-CIF Centaur pitcher Darrin “DJ” Jackson, who played for the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox and San Diego Padres.
