Lakers, Clips stay home for weekend

The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers will stay home this weekend for games at the Staples Center. The 1-6 Lakers will battle the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs on Friday at 7 p.m. and they will host the young and impressive Golden State Warriors on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

The 4-3 Clippers will face the Phoenix Suns on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and start next week against the Chicago Bulls on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Staples Center.

Both the Los Angeles teams are not where they want to be during the early part of the season. The Clippers were expected to be 6-1 or at least 5-2 and the Lakers were projecting to be at least 3-4.

The good news is the season is has just begun, so they have time to fix their problems. The Lakers have more issues than the Clippers but Wesley Johnson of the Lakers thinks a few more games can solve some of their problems.

”We need to continue to build chemistry and get to know each other,” Johnson said after a recent home game.”

The Clippers are still looking for their identity as a championship team.

“Every team is looking for a blue print and we have not found ours yet.” Clipper head coach Doc Rivers said.
