Former classroom teacher Laura Chardiet was recently endorsed by the Culver City Federation of Teachers for her bid to join the Culver City Unified District School Board. 

            The  union made its determination after interviewing the school board candidates individually for half an hour each. Pamela Greenstein, the federation’s political director, told Chardiet that the panel was “very impressed with [Chardiet’s] depth of knowledge on the issues brought up during the meeting.”

            Chardiet is the daughter of the 1970 California State Teacher of the Year George W. Fetter and is married to schoolteacher Jon Chardiet. She said the endorsement by the teacher’s union is particularly significant to her. “It’s really meaningful to be recognized by your peers,” she said.
