On Saturday, Feb. 9 from 11 a.m.4 p.m. STAR Eco Station is bringing together local artists and students to honor black history through art exhibits, poetry, dance, singing and drumming.
This event is free to enter and features live African dance and musical performances by the African Dance and Drumming Troupe from STAR at Loyola Village Elementary who have performed at the USC.
“My son Ian loves playing the drums. I love art. STAR always puts on top notch events and this one sounds like a fantastic day,” said Mark Whalens.
Original contemporary artwork by established and emerging artists will be available for viewing and for purchase.
Tours of STAR Eco Station will also be available.
“If you’ve never been to the Eco Station, now is the time to go. It’s truly a great place for families. My love it,” said Maggie Montrose, a Culver City mom.
STAR Education is a charitable 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization committed to helping students reach their full potential by offering affordable extended academic, recreational and enrichment programs.
“It’s so nice to know that right here in our city, there is a fun and educational place for family outings. I only just discovered STAR. I’m really glad I did,” said Luann DiAngelo.
For 25 years, STAR has partnered with schools throughout California to involve students in innovative programs taught by trained instructors.
STAR Eco Station is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit 18,000 sq-ft environmental science museum and exotic wildlife rescue center in Culver City.
They provide environmental education, field trips, gifted and talented instruction, classroom instruction, afterschool enrichment and community events that annually reach one million learners of all ages.
Through a partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, STAR Eco Station rescues and houses “at-risk” and endangered exotic wildlife.
With a mission of preservation through education, STAR Eco Station is dedicated to creating a new generation of environmentalists committed to protecting the earth’s resources.
