Golden State Water Company (Golden State) announced today the completion of its Baldwin Hills Slope Stabilization Project at the utility’s Perham and Baldwin Hills plant sites in Culver City to protect the integrity of the water system and storage facilities.
“We operate above-ground water tanks and booster pump stations at these locations,” said Paul Rowley, Golden State District Manager. “These important facilities support the water system operations in Culver City and these projects enhance the reliability of our water system.”
The $5.7 million project is part of an infrastructure improvement plan. The design and construction of slope stabilization structures protect the water supply facilities and reduce the likelihood of damage during a natural disaster.
The Baldwin Hills Plant contains two 1-million gallon tanks and the Perham Plant has a 200,000 gallon reservoir and booster pump station. These facilities store and move water through the distribution system in Culver City.
Golden State began the project in early 2011. The work included initial site investigations, geotechnical surveying, and land mapping to support the project design and permitting. Once the stabilization structures were in place, additional slope grading, vegetation planting, and drainage system work was performed.
