The Culver City News article from February 2, 2012, “A real ‘sister act’ in Culver City” struck an international chord. The talented movie loving sisters at Pauline Books and Media Ever have been enjoying the publicity.
“It’s been great. People of all faiths and walks of life have been calling and coming in!” exclaimed Sister Tecla.
“A long time Culver City police officer pulled into the lot and paid a visit while making his on-duty rounds. He’s been a Culver City police officer for years and never knew what went on at the bookstore.”
“A woman of Jewish faith called after reading the article excited to join us for the screening of “The Way.” The screening of the new film by Emilio Estevez, starring his father Martin Sheen, is on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m.
An Evangelical Protestant joined them last Saturday night for the screening of “School of Rock” starring Jack Black, and stayed for the discussion afterwards. The calls and inquiries from Culver City residents have been pouring in since the CCN feature came out.
Not only has the story brought attention to the sisters locally; it’s been a hit in distant cities, states and countries. The article began attracting worldwide appeal after they began sharing the newspaper with other Pauline Sisters. It was picked up by several other publications including internationally by i-Italy.org which published the story on the front page of their on-line magazine, www.i-Italy.org, re-titling it, “Vatican has a real sister act in the Heart of Screenland.”
