A construction contract has been awarded for a public works improvement project along Sepulveda Boulevard between Culver Boulevard and the vicinity of Franklin Avenue. The construction will be funded via a grant from CalTrans and is the result of many community meetings and city council discussions.
Construction of pedestrian improvements along Sepulveda Boulevard began Monday, June 6, with the removal of all existing street trees. The contractor will work block by block on one side of the street at a time to ensure minimal interruption of day-to-day business and parking availability. The work is scheduled to be completed in July.
The project consists of improvements such as installation of replacement trees with additional landscaping, new street furniture, including benches, trash receptacles and bicycle racks, replacement of damaged sidewalk areas and curb ramps and installation of energy-efficient lamps on existing street lights.
