The name Potato Chips Deli has such a wonderful simplicity about it, such a refreshingly “no frills” vibe, that we found a visit irresistible. Sometime, you don’t need the flourishes and fancy-pants airs and graces. There are occasions when a well put-together sandwich is just what the doctor ordered, and the Potato Chips Deli delivers on every front.

“We believe that every sandwich bite should be an explosion of juicy flavors, complemented by the perfect crispy texture of the bread without taking away from the ingredients,” they say online. “Our sauces are expertly crafted to enhance the flavors of the ingredients without dripping, allowing you to savor every bite. We take great pride in using only the highest quality meats, ensuring that every sandwich you order is made with the finest ingredients available.”

They continue: “At Potato Chips Deli, we believe that simplicity and quality go hand in hand. That’s why we’ve created 12 unique recipes that are sure to keep you coming back for more. From classic favorites to bold new creations, we’re confident that our menu has something to please every palate.”

The sandwich options are enticing, from the Caesar Salad Special to the Caprese, from the Honey Buffalo Chicken to the Impossible Meatball. We went for the Chicken Milanese: “Breaded Chicken, lettuce, tomato, swiss and aioli.”Everything about the sandwich, top to bottom, has been constructed with love and care. The quality of each individual ingredient and manner with which they’re combined has been handled expertly.

It all starts with the bread, which would be delicious all by itself. The exterior has a perfect crunch, almost a snap, but it immediately reveals a soft, springy interior. That leads to a magnificent bite, regardless of the filling.

That said, the filling is glorious. The lettuce and tomato are both of the highest quality–crisp, juicy and vibrant. The texture and flavor of the salad veg brings a vital freshness to the sandwich. Meanwhile, the tomato juice seeps magically into the light breading, again blending flavors. But we’re far from done. The swiss cheese adds a rich, earthy flavor, and it melts beautifully onto the chicken. There’s just enough cheese, without dairy overkill. The chicken is magnificent; thin enough for the perfect bite, but thick enough to retain the natural juices. The spicy aioli ties everything together. The sauce has a nice bite – enough to leave a tingle on the tongue without blowing your head off. That’s how you make a great sandwich.
