Transportation Depart. short-range mobility plan gets Council approval

By Brett Callwood

The City Council unanimously approved Action Item 3 – “a resolution approving the Culver City Transportation Department 2022-2026 short range mobility plan (SRMP) and finding the SRMP to be exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act.” Staff said in a presentation that the “SRMP creates a unified vision and mobility strategy (3-5 years) – a Bridge to the City General Plan (20-30 years).” They want to update sections of governance, modify the Short Range Transportation Plan (SRTP) and create an SRMP that refers to other plans. They also want to identify other sources of mobility funding. Transportation projects will include: moving the Culver City – Downtown Corridor, a comprehensive service analysis, public WI-FI, a transit technology roadmap, automated payroll, business intelligence, autonomous vehicles, CityBus electrification, asset management plan and facility improvements. SRMP Mobility Projects include citywide vehicle electrification, Culver City fleet electrification, mobility hubs, bicycle and pedestrian action plan, bikeshare, fare equity, and street improvements.
