Nozick overcomes more hurdles

Culver City High School senior Lucas Nozick had an amazing day last Saturday at the California Relays prelims held at Cerritos College.

The third ranked hurdler in the state won the 300 meter hurdles with a Culver City High School record of 39.20, then he came back to win the 110 meter high hurdles with a personal best of 14.74. He later ran a leg of the 4×400 meter relay with a personal record time of 49.70. The relay team is ranked seventh in the state.

Former Centaur 800 meter state champion, Anniya Louis, now running for USC, ran the 800 meters in 2:15.69 in the USC Trojan Invitational, last weekend, finishing sixth out of 18 overall.  Another former Culver High runner, Charles Back, who now runs for Whittier College, set a new personal record in the 1500 meter run of 4:35.69 at Claremont.

Former Lady Centaur Casandra Salazar, who trains with the Centaurs over the summer, ran a season best of 10:07.41 in the 3,000 meters at the UC Irvine Spring Break Invitational, only three seconds off of her top mark after sitting out a year and a half due to injury. She finished fourth out of 34 overall and first on the Loyola Marymount University squad.
