Derby Girls provide fireworks on the floor | Fri, Jul 08 2011 08:48 PM

The Angel City Derby Girls showcased their talent over the holiday weekend with their All-American Slam. Brawl Stanley (a play on the name of KISS singer, Paul Stanley), number 78, was named MVP of the closely fought bout.

Stanley is a no-nonsense skater whose play speaks for itself. “I have torn-up skates – I just changed my toe-stops for the first time in about two years,” Stanley told the News. “I use the same wheels indoor and outdoor, I couldn’t even tell you what wheels I have without looking them up. I’ve had the same knee and elbow pads since I started four years ago, my wrist guards smell, but at least I have a cool, custom Gladiator mouth guard.”
