Centaurs play for title against unbeaten Vikings Mike Cohen | Sat, May 26 2012 08:57 AM

Culver City and Santa Monica high schools, both undefeated in the Ocean League at 8-0, play each other this week to determine the league championship. The Centaurs greet the visiting Vikings, today, 3:15, in the final game of the regular season. Head coach Rick Prieto’s squad traveled to Santa Monica, Tuesday, for the first game of the two-game set.

Culver High (17-8 overall) defeated Morningside, 5-0, at Culver High last Tuesday and 24-0 at Morningside last Thursday. The Centaurs beat West Torrance, 7-0, last Saturday in the Redondo Tournament.

After dropping four straight games to ranked CIF teams, the Centaurs have won eight of their last nine contests. They have scored 92 times, while allowing only five runs in that span.
