AYSO Girls Win State Title Mike Cohen | Fri, May 15 2009 03:02 PM

Upgrading their skills and strategies each game, the Culver City girls U10 All Stars defeated South Pasadena to win the recent California State Championships held in Davis.

The Culver City Blackouts blanked San Diego to reach the State finals a few weeks after winning five games at the Sectionals held in Riverside, all by shut outs.

“The progress that these girls have made throughout the all star season physically and mentally along with their work ethic and understanding of the game has been a joy to watch,” said coach Barth Beasley.

Also working with the championship squad were asst. coach Shaun Avant, Asst. and goalie coach Victor Ortiz, team manager Robin Beasley and Regional Commissioner Vonda Stone. The AYSO Region 19 girls U14 team took second place in the State tournament.
