The Culver City High School FIRST robotics ream will host a bake sale to raise money and promote awareness for the team.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) robotics is a 20-year-old program seeking a higher profile. Despite championships being televised on ABC and receiving support from many celebrities, “Many people still do not know what it is,” says team member Stephanie Green. “We need more programs in our schools and we need companies to recognize us for who we are. We are the future.”
The bale sale is one of the many fundraisers the team will hold in an effort to generate the money to build the team’s robot and to cover the expenses of three competitions, including the championship.
The bake sale will be held at the Ralphs supermarket at 10772 Jefferson Blvd. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Culver City team will provide robotics demonstrations and answer questions. For more information, email Stephanie Green at stefferjill188@yahoo.com.
