What do you think of PXP's offer to pay for a second well (not one that they own) that has the potential to cause additional problems for the Dog Park?
1. I think it's great. Oil companies have way too much money anyway, so it's nice that they do good with it sometimes.

2. They SHOULD pay! They are part of the problem and need to take care of some solutions!

3. This continues to show that PXP is a good community partner - they also contribute to educational funds and other community activities here in Culver City.

4. I think the city should AT LEAST offer to pay some of the costs because the well is in Culver City.

Sat, Jan 08 2011 10:13 PMMy problem is with STUPIDITY, it is understood that elected / selected public officials are IGNORANT and GREEDY and LIE some of the time. Culver City adds STUPIDITY to the mix.
City Council dba CRA invites PXP Oilwells into a legal endeavor that back in 2010
Sleaze FEES where over a cool Smillion and flowing according to attorney Weiss. Now this is as good of a time as any to lie. Who knows? Could just as well be $2million.
Oh Shucks! I forgot about all the cash that the CRA dba C.C has to use or lose so (they claim). $22 million. $6 million to private developer. $16 million to go!
$1 or $$2 million (whose counting)sleaze FEES in the PXP first one to cry chicken contest.
Our Kids can use some of that $ cash give-a-way? We know, you are prohibited to use the money for our Kids. Only Attorneys need apply.
$1 million for artificial turf at the High School football field. $3-$5 million to restore or rebuild the Natatorium. I went to the school district last Tuesday for a date to revisit the Natatorium for 2011. My first and only visit accompanied by two other candidates for School Board back in '09.
The Board wants to schedule a community viewing and solicit ideas on what to do with IT. Attorney Paspalis, board member thinks that it should be converted into conference room instead, due to the prohibited cost of operation approximately $25K to $30K monthly. There is $5 to $6 million restricted fund being Squirreled away since 1997. Could be used to fund the Natatorium and the artifical turf.
Board is not much different from C.C. dba CRA except that C.C. had deeper pockets last year 2010.
Board just got a fusion of $1.2 million for 5 years from its own version of the CRA. Parcel Tax. One difference is that they do not have to worry about state over sight. Hand picked their own no-sight committee. Not quit the fox guarding the hen house. More like just sign right here on the dotted line, Trust me. I will tell you what you signed. Honest to God like In God We Trust, all others $cash.
Board had its own version of who will cry chicken first with the AFTA C.C.
Attorney Gourley did some not quite to the level of unethical behavior, but more like inappropriate conduct in dealing with the people responsible for the education of our KIDS. Do not get me wrong, I do not think for a second that all the outstanding teachers I have had the pleasure to work with would do anything to harm our kids for pay back. I just think it is a good idea to have them in the best mood that the small money can buy. How much work is involved with teaching. Still think they make too much to put up with all this crab of layoffs, salary and benefit cuts too. Forced days off (furloughs). That's another story.
AFTA C.C. invited the School Board to court in protest of inappropriate behavior by the then President attorney Gourley. Now there are two other attorneys on the Board for a total of (3) three. One of them should have pulled Attorney Gourley to the side and as we say, pulled his coat. You see Attorney Gourley was a former City Council member so maybe he has been longing for the good old days or was having a flashback moment and thought he was back on the saddle again, I really have no idea what was going on in his head.
All I know is that the District cried chicken without admitting it. Any one to guess at the cost $ for Sleaze FEE$. Mr. Dave Mielke, President of C.C. AFTA union can explain it. Simply the C.C.AFTA union called in the boys from the state and the Feds, Un-reliable sources say the back-up rolled into Culver City in a Brinks Truck.
