Lin Howe Athletes Compete in Special Olympics

Two Linwood E. Howe students recently competed in the 2014 Special Olympics Summer Games Invitational hosted at USC. More than 1,500 athletes and 300 coaches traveled from all over Southern California and more than 200 international athletes attended.

Two Lin Howe athletes participated in gymnastics events. Maya Shulman, fifth grade, (pictured at right) won five gold medals for bars, beam, floor, vault and all-around for 5-11 age group.

Caelyn Griffith, Lin Howe alumnae and current CCUSD Adult School student, (pictured at left) received four gold medals including one for All-Around Athlete for the 16-21 age group.

Both athletes hope to be selected to compete on the USA team at the World Games scheduled for July 2015 here in Los Angeles. Congratulations Maya and Caelyn!
