High-speed chase ends in arrest, no injuries

 

A high speed chase that began in Santa Clarita ended in Culver City on Nov. 24 in a rooftop standoff that lasted until the evening hours.

The suspect was taken into custody by Culver City police near the Hayden Tract in east Culver City after he engaged the state Highway Patrol and other police agencies in a chase in an SUV that at times exceeded 100 miles per hour, beginning on the 170 Freeway, continued to the 101 and later down residential streets before ending the pursuit ended in Culver City.

The suspect, who was not identified as the News went to press, barricaded himself on the roof of a three-story building not far from downtown in the 9600 block of Lucerne Avenue.

Authorities said there were at least two people in the vehicle at the time it crashed into a parking lot prior the suspect barricading climbing to the rooftop. He surrendered to police later in that afternoon.

Culver City police did not return calls for comment for this story.
