Culver City teams continues league and tournament play

Spring break is over and now Culver City high school varsity teams hit the ground running as they prepare for the final weeks of league and tournament play. Boys and girls track and field and boys and girls lacrosse along with baseball, softball and boys’ volleyball will all be in action this week.

The boys’ volleyball team, which has an overall record of 6-7 and 3-2 in Ocean league play, will play one home game this week. Today (Thursday April 13) they battle Beverly Hills at 3:15 p.m. at home inside the Del Goodyear gym and next Tuesday, April 18 they travel to El Segundo for a 3 p.m. match.

The girls’ softball team is currently 5-5 overall and they start Ocean league play on the road today against Lawndale. They continue to stay on the road next Tuesday when they battle Hawthorne and they play their next home game on next Thursday against Santa Monica. All three games start at 3 p.m.

The varsity baseball team is currently 5-10 overall and 1-1 in league play. Today they travel to El Segundo at 3:15 p.m. to play one of the best teams in the Ocean league and Saturday they stay on the road to face a very good Sierra Canyon team in Chatsworth at 11 a.m.

The boys and girls varsity track and field teams along with the freshmen and sophomore teams will travel to Santa Monica next Thursday, April 20 for a meet that will probably determine the Ocean league dual meet championships. The meet will start at 3 p.m.

The girls and boys lacrosse teams will be in action next week. The boys will play two home games on Wednesday against Downey at 5 p.m. and Friday against Beverly Hills at 5 p.m. The 8-3 and 3-1 girls team will be on the road next week when they play Downey on Wednesday at 4 p.m. and Beverly Hills on Friday at 4 p.m.
