WLAC hosts ‘California Landscapes’

Art as a family affair is on display at West Los Angeles College, with the works of several noteworthy artists who happen to be related to high-profile people in politics, the film industry, real estate and philanthropy.

“California Landscapes” features works by former Los Angeles District Atty. Gil Garcetti, Gayle Roski and Lucas Reiner. Garcetti is the father of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Reiner is the brother of director Rob and the son of former actor-comedian Carl and Gail Roski is the wife of philanthropist and real estate tycoon Ed Roski, who is also a minority owner of the Los Angeles Lakers and half owner of the Los Angeles Kings and Chris Morgan, the son of the late actor Harry Morgan of “Dragnet” and “M.A.S.H.” fame.

The USC School of Art and Design is named after Gail Roski.

“California Landscapes,” which opened on Sept. 6 the college’s Fine Arts Gallery, will also feature paintings Culver City artist Ed Ruscha, known as an influential artist of the Pop Art movement. Pop art, which began in the 1950s, combines elements of cultural objects, comic books and advertising.

It runs through Oct. 15.

Parking is $2 and exact change is needed for parking pass machine.

The artists’ paintings run the gamut of landscapes from oils to watercolors and also include photographs. Other artists featured in this exhibit include Nick Agid, Peter Alexander, Marina Day, Linda Jacobson, Marina Moevs and Jerry McMillan.

The exhibit is curated by art dealer Molly Barnes, who is currently an artist in residence at West Los Angeles College.
