Stanford University recognizes CCHS teacher

CCN

Stanford University recently recognized CCHS teacher Andy Owens for his efforts in helping CCHS graduate and current Stanford student Wesley Dixon in his success.

The University asked students to share how educators have made a difference in their lives, and Dixon cited Owens.

“Mr. Owens sets himself apart at CCHS as a knowledgeable and amiable teacher dedicated to the success of his students,” Dixon wrote. “Not only does Mr. Owens have a true mastery of his field, but he also has a special way of presenting the material that engages the class.

After an amazing year, complete with much historical humor, I left his class feeling a renewed interest in both history and education in general. The sheet of advice that he gave me in my junior year still hangs in my bedroom as a reminder of the character that Mr. Owens embodies.”

Congratulations Mr. Owens, and best of luck Wesley (Stanford, Class of 2018)!
