On Sat. Nov. 19, approximately 5,000 competitors from across the U.S. and several foreign countries representing every walk of life, and about 4,000 spectators converged on Calimigos Ranch in Malibu, Calif. for the Spartan Sprint Race. Spartan Race, the world’s leading obstacle racing event, was designed to test participants’ resilience, strength, stamina and ability to laugh in the face of adversity.

Malibu is the 27th obstacle racing event in the international Spartan Race Series. It is an international obstacle racing series with three levels of courses: three-mile races with 10 obstacles (sprints); eight-mile Olympic (supers) with 15 obstacles; and 10- to 12-mile Ultras (Beasts). Death Race is the annual, grand-finale event. Racers may compete as individuals or teams.
