Releasing the Trout at Puddingstone Lake

Releasing the Trout at Puddingstone Lake

On Tuesday April 22, the Linwood Howe third graders took the rainbow trout we have been raising in Ms. Lisa Schnauss’s class to Puddingstone Lake.

The bus we road took about four hours round trip .  When we got to Puddingstone Lake we got lost around raging waters.  After we found the North Shore, we went to the gazebo area and met a guy named George and he told us about flies, the type you fish with, and George made a fly while we watched.

George then said whoever had the answer to a question would get the fly. Nobody knew what the state fish was but I knew the question’s answer. The state fish is the golden trout.

I got a special prize fly for knowing the right answer.  After we learned about flies, we learned how to cast fly rods.  After that, we cleaned up the local environment.

Then we had to stand in line with our partners and wait to release our trout.   When it was my turn, I had the small trout in a cup and I dumped the cup with trout into Puddingstone Lake.

The bus ride back was not very interesting. That was our trip to Puddingstone Lake and the release of the trout.  It was a lot of fun.
