In its third year of giving students the royal treatment, Project Prom turned the Culver City High School multipurpose room into a beauty spa for the day, and made the dreams of nearly 50 CCHS seniors come true.
Replete with wardrobes, make-up artists, hair stylists, flowers and sandwiches, Project Prom provided everything needed to students who were otherwise unable to afford prom — a tangible affirmation of how much their community cares for them.
“Project Prom was beyond what I expected,” said Amy (last name withheld), a senior at Culver High. “I was able to have access to beautiful dresses and choose the one I wanted to wear. I got a pair of shoes that fit great and a purse too! I thank the sponsor who gave me the opportunity to go to prom. I wish they would continue Project Prom for all the girls to have access to all they need for prom.”
The students who benefited from Project Prom met only a few of the people who donated their time, talent and money to make student dreams come true. Project Prom is led by CCHS Career Counselor Adrienne Madrid, ROP staffer Marion Serra, CCHS Guidance Technician Margaret Fujisawa, CCMS Counselor Jeanine Lizotte and CCEF Executive Director Leslie Adler, but there are many working behind the scenes to bring it to fruition each year. CCEF thanks all who made Project Prom 2016 possible, including: Academy of Beauty in Culver City, Culver City Moms, Culver City Women’s Club, DevaCurl products, Sada’s Flowers, Smashbox, Tara’s Himalayan Cuisine, X Prize Foundation.
