Medi-Indian fusion spices up downtown | Fri, Feb 04 2011 12:35 AM

Main Street just got a little more exotic. That’s because there’s a brand-new restaurant heating up downtown Culver City. Kabab Bistro delivers a taste of Mediterranean and Indian cuisines at a great price.

Members of the Culver City Chamber of Commerce and City Council were on hand to welcome the new owners to town with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Jan. 31.

Situated in a row of great restaurants and directly in view of the Culver City Farmer’s Market, Kabab Bistro is ideally located, with metered street parking, except on Tuesday evenings when the market is under way, and nearby parking structures. The restaurant also includes indoor and outdoor patio dining, and take-out service.

But the best reason to visit Kabab Bistro is for the food – particularly, the kababs. The Boti Tikka chicken is marinated in Indian spices and delivers a mild heat. The beef Behari is cooked in the tandoor oven and is so tender that it pulls apart with a fork and tastes of peppery spice. The meat is 100% Halal.

Plates are served with a generous salad and amazing naan bread, traditional or garlic. For the connoisseur of spicy delights, I highly recommend the garlic naan. The hot sauces served alongside the meat taste garden-fresh. The samosas are crispy and bursting with flavor. And for those who prefer a light, handheld meal, they also serve wraps.

Everything is fresh, made by hand, and in plain view.

Still unconvinced? The prices are equivalent to a typical fast-food eatery. But if you’re interested in high-quality ingredients and, say, your health, Kabab Bistro is a remarkably smarter decision. They even offer buffet specials and weekend specials.

Kabab Bistro is at 3835 Main St., downtown Culver City. To place an order, call (310) 559-5222.
