Library formally dedicated to former congressman | Thu, Dec 09 2010 04:08 PM

By Scott Bridges

County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, congresswoman-elect Karen Bass and Mayor Chris Armenta addressed a crowd to officially dedicate the Culver City Julian Dixon Library to the former congressman, who was represented by his  widow and son. A plaque was displayed in the lobby of the library in honor of the late Dixon, who died Dec. 8, 2000.

Ridley-Thomas spoke of Rep. Dixon’s legacy, noted his crusade for literacy and, fitting for the location, advocated the building of more libraries and less jails.

City historian  Julie Lugo Cerra and community activist Neal Rubenstein were applauded by the mayor for their efforts in making the dedication possible.
