Friends and family from coast to coast gathered at Vet’s park last Saturday, the Koji Truck staff prepared tacos and the Casa Sanchez Mariachi band played in anticipation of Jozelle Smith’s arrival at her surprise birthday party. Emcee/City Councilman Andy Weisman (who still can’t forget that she beat him in their race for a City Council seat in the 80’s), family, friends and other community members shared fondly what she means to them and the impact she has in the last 75 years. We hear that the plans are currently in the works for her 80th Birthday.
