The Culver City Fire Department raised $6,431 during its recent “Fill the Boot” fundraising campaign to benefit the Los Angeles Metro chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Culver City firefighters collected the donations in their boots April 5, April 7 and April 9 at the intersection of Culver Boulevard and Washington Boulevard in front of Fire Station No. 1 in downtown Culver City.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, who happened to be driving through Culver City during the fundraising effort, vowed to personally donate $1,000 to the cause.
Every year firefighters from across the nation participate in MDA’s “Fill the Boot” program, with donations used to fund research, medical supplies, support groups and camps for kids living with a neuromuscular disease.
