Fatal car crash

On Jan. 28, a 22-year-old Culver City man was killed in a crash, involving a vehicle and a motorcycle, on Pico Boulevard and 25th Street, according to Santa Monica Police.

The crash was reported to the police at 1:03 p.m. in the 2500 block of Pico in Santa Monica, said spokesman Sgt. Richard Lewis.

Alexander Smollins died at the scene said an investigator with the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Smollins was traveling east on Pico when he struck a car driven by a 26-year-old Inglewood man, police said. The car had been northbound on 25th Street and turned left onto Pico after stopping at a stop sign when it was struck by the motorcycle, according to police.

The crash ensued near Josie Restaurant and the Santa Monica Car Wash.

Parts of Pico Boulevard were closed to traffic while police investigated.
