Eastside power outage

On Feb. 3 the eastside of Culver City had a power outage. At approximately 2:45 p.m. 10 blocks went dark.

“I couldn’t believe it. Super Bowl Sunday was in full swing; the game about to start and we had no power. No TV and no game,” said Allen Marquart, a resident.

The traffic lights were out along Washington Boulevard for about 45 minutes.

“I went outside to see if I was the only one affected and saw several neighbors with the same problem,” said Gloria Wynn.

“A resident was trimming their trees and a branch fell onto the power lines, causing the outage,” said Sergeant Irwin of the Culver City Police Department.

SoCal Edison was dispatched immediately and the problem was rectified.

“Culver City officials really take care of things quick. My Super Bowl party wasn’t ruined and the power came on in time for the first kickoff,” said Marquart.
