Repair of the Dog Park, which has been closed since Sept. 28 because of a methane gas leak and liquid seepage, has been “impacted” due to rain, according to a news release - the fifth update since the incident - from the city of Culver City. The reopening is expected to be delayed until mid- to late January. The city’s consultants say that neither the seepage nor the low concentrations of methane gas pose a safety risk to the public.
When the repairs are complete the work will be need to be approved by the State Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources.
City officials say they will continue to provide updated information to the public as it becomes available.
