Dog park closed due to gas leak | Thu, Oct 21 2010 11:35 AM

A methane gas leak and flooding prompted authorities to temporarily close the Boneyard, Culver City’s dog park. Officials said the gas does not pose a risk to public health or safety.

After an investigation into the cause of the seepage and gas leak, the City demanded that Plains Exploration Production Company (PXP) and Atlantic Oil fix the abandoned well.  The companies accepted responsibility and agreed to make repairs.

The Boneyard will remain closed until all repairs are done to the satisfaction of all concerned parties. It was estimated that repairs would take a month or two.
