Culver City appoints John Nachbar city manager Leslie Belfor | Thu, Jul 08 2010 05:26 PM

The City Council of Culver City has named John Nachbar its new city manager. He will assume the post in late August or early September.

For the past 10-plus years, Nachbar has served as the city manager of Overland Park, Kansas, a city of more than 173,000 residents. He has also served as city manager for the California cities of Albany and Patterson. Prior to his stint in Overland Park, He was the deputy city manager of Tucson, Arizona. 

Overland Park Mayor Carl Gerlach praised Nachbar, saying, “I want to say congratulations to John. He has served Overland Park very well, helping us become an economically stronger community.”

Mayor Christopher Armenta welcomed the new city manager to Culver City saying, “On behalf of the City Council, we are pleased that Mr. Nachbar has accepted the position as Culver City’s new city manager. The City Council was looking for someone to help the city be both resilient and dynamic during these tough economic times. I believe he is highly capable to lead the city team, providing the guidance that is needed to build on our successes and plan for the future.”
Nachbar will replace interim City Manager P. Lamont Ewell, who has been serving in the position since Apr. 1, 2010.
