Clarke among locals to get Meridian Senior Awards

Meridian of Cheviot Hills Assisted Living in conjunction with Seniors on the Move Today, will host Praise, Pie, and Politics, an event designed to bring together motivated seniors looking for leadership and direction in our current political climate. Several Culver City individuals are among 32 honorees to receive Lifetime Achievement Awards.

The event will be held Aug. 12, from 3 to 7 p.m. at 3340 Shelby Dr., Los Angeles.

Local honorees will include Culver City Mayor Jim Clarke, Kiwanis President Ben Blakely and Armando Abrego, Culver City Senior Center director.

‘Praise’ will also feature the “Oldest Living Active Debate Team,” which will be distributing free slices of pie to all attendees.

Meridian, along with Seniors on the Move Today, are bringing together many of the most important senior assisted living, independent living, memory care, and skilled nursing communities in California.

In addition, The Department of Aging and California Voting Registration, as well as other state political offices and organizations will be on hand to listen and learn about where California is headed in the near future.

One of the featured events of the night will be the presentation of Lifetime Achievement Awards to those who have made great strides toward the benefit and care of seniors and their constituents.

Some of the Lifetime Achievement Award recipients will include California Governor Jerry Brown, Senator Isadore Hall, Congresswoman Karen Bass, Culver City Mayor Jim B. Clarke, and Culver City Kiwanis President Ben Blakeley.

One of the most important characteristics of the Meridian of Cheviot Hills senior is that they are motivated, empowered, engaged, and dedicated to living their later years to the fullest.

Thanks to the Seniors on the Move Today program, Meridian seniors participate in debate/speech clubs, choir, dance/tap clubs, social service clubs, charities, stage performances, and fashion shows.
