CCFD is awarded international accredited agency status

On August 13, 2014, the Culver City Fire Department received International Accredited Agency Status with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) for meeting the criteria established through the CFAI’s voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program. The Culver City Fire Department is one of 200 agencies worldwide to achieve Internationally Accredited Agency status by meeting the high standards set by the CFAI and the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Inc. (CPSE).

CFAI is dedicated to assisting fire and emergency service agencies throughout the world in achieving excellence through self-assessment and accreditation in order to provide continuous quality improvement and enhancement of service delivery to their communities. The CFAI process is voluntary and provides agencies with an improvement model to assess service delivery and performance internally.

“I am grateful to the Commission on Fire Accreditation International for once again validating Culver City’s commitment to the highest levels of service in our Fire Department,” Mayor Meghan Sahli-Wells said. “The Culver City Fire Department remains an example to fire departments throughout the United States and the world.”

Fire Chief David White stated that the City’s achievement of Internationally Accredited Agency status “demonstrates the commitment of the Culver City Fire Department to provide the highest quality of service to our community.” Chief White added, “We have been able to use the Commission on Fire Accreditation International’s process as a proactive mechanism to plan for the future and identify areas where we can improve the quality of services we provide to the Culver City community.”
