Baby Boot Camp “CAN” host workout to support local food shelf

National fitness and nutrition program helps moms lose pregnancy weight, battle post- partum depression. Baby Boot Camp, the fit- ness and nutrition program for new moms, is excited to intro- duce a “CAN” class that incorporates canned food items into the workout.

The cans will be donated to St. Augustine’s S.A.V.E.S. Food Pantry, in Culver City. The “CAN” class will be hostedon Friday, Nov. 21, from 9:30 to10:30 a.m. at the historic Helms Bakery in Culver City.

“We thought creating a fun themed workout class that also helps the local food shelter would be a great way to build a sense of community between Baby Boot Camp and Culver City,” said owners Elizabeth Avila and Melinda Blechner, who are Nationally Certified Trainers. “We believe Baby Boot Camp should encour- age not just fitness, but the strength of a community as a whole.”

Baby Boot Camp stroller- fitness classes combinestrength-training exercises with cardiovascular drills in 60-minute sessions. Pilates, yoga and abdominal exercises are integrated to help improve core strength.

Class participants are asked to bring at least two, canned food items. The class is free and open to the public. Persons interested can register by emailing: Melinda.Blechner@ BabyBootCamp.com.

Baby Boot Camp was created in San Francisco in 2001 by Kristen Horler to balance the fitness needs of new moms with their desire to spend time with their children. Baby Boot Camp follows the guidelines set by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Council on Exercise.
