Arts funding program provides assistance with application | Thu, Jul 29 2010 02:38 PM

A workshop will be held to assist organizations in the application process of the Culver City Performing Arts Grants Program, which was established in 1994 to support arts organizations countywide and to bring distinguished cultural programming to the city.

The application is currently being distributed via email and is available at www.culvercity.org. The workshop will be held 7 p.m., Aug. 3 in the Dan Patacchia Room at City Hall, 9770 Culver Blvd. The deadline for submission is Sept. 7.

Performances may be presented by non-profit performing arts organizations in the disciplines of theatre, musical theatre, music, opera or dance.

The available amount of funding is based on the City’s Art Fund each fiscal year and by the support of Sony Pictures Entertainment. The 2011 program has been budgeted at $28,750.

The Performing Arts Grant Program, under the purview of the City Council and Cultural Affairs Commission, supports performances which occur during the 2011 calendar year, and which are available to the general public in a facility at least partially located in Culver City or controlled/owned by the City of Culver City and/or the Culver City Redevelopment Agency. Funding may only be used for direct expenses related to the performance in Culver City and applicant organizations must qualify as tax-exempt at the time of application.

For more, contact Jeremy Green at jeremy.green@culvercity.org or call (310) 253-5716. A listing of possible performance venues is available on the Arts & Culture page of the City’s website at www.culvercity.org.
