AltaMed honors State Assembly Member Holly J. Mitchell

On March 8, AltaMed Health Services will honor State Assembly Member, Holly Mitchell (54th District) with the Impact Award at its annual “We the People” Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Assembly Member Mitchell is being recognized for her leadership in creating access to quality and affordable health care services for 25,000 children and their families in the Los Angeles community.

Her advocacy for health services reflects AltaMed’s inspired theme for its “We the People.”

Assembly Member Mitchell is the CEO of Crystal Stairs, the largest child care agency in California.

She will be honored with the Impact Award for her contributions and advocacy for the growth, improvement and enrichment of the lives of the underserved.

Mitchell spent many years as a policy analyst for the California Senate’s Health and Human Services Committee, where she sought fiscally sound ways to expand health care and other vital services.

Her advocacy efforts to restore funding for California’s poorest families are recognized as an influential inspiration to the Los Angeles community.

“AltaMed is proud to honor Holly with our Impact Award for all the great work she does for the betterment of our patients and the community as a whole,” says Cástulo de la Rocha, president and CEO of AltaMed Health Services.

AltaMed is embracing “We the People” by the promise of providing quality care without exception to the underserved populations of Los Angeles and Orange counties.

For more than 42 years, AltaMed has provided health care services to those who have needed it the most.

Through its annual Gala, the not-for-profit AltaMed is able to raise the funds necessary to continue providing quality care at a time when it’s most needed.

The evening will be celebrated dinner and a speech from former Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers NBA player, John Salley, who has joined AltaMed as its representative in its fight against childhood obesity.

AltaMed will also be honoring Dr. T. Colin Campbell with the Visionary Award for authoring The China Study and his role in the famed Forks over Knives documentary that set the stage for an ongoing conversation about health and wellness around the world.
