Best league mark for Lady Centaur soccer

Battling injuries all year, the Culver City High School girls soccer team earned its best league record (8-2) since Scott Mair began coaching the squad last decade, but lost to the Patriot High School Warriors, 4-3, in the recent first round of CIF playoffs. Overall record of 14-8-1 was quite an accomplishment, considering 16 of the 20 players were injured during the season,” according to Mair.

“Our depth of good players kept us in every match,” said Mair.

Sophomore Hayley Pina led Culver City scoring with 12 goals for the season. Freshman Jasmin Flores put in 10 goals. Flores sparked Culver with four goals and one assist in a 5-0 league win over Morningside.

“Every player gave her best effort every game. They had roles to play and performed well,” said Mair.

Mair is optimistic about next season.

“We have a lot of players returning and a lot of good players coming up from the J.V. team. Culver City High School girls soccer is only going to get better,” said Mair.
